Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua – An Awesome New Cigar!

Tuesday, July 17th, 2018

Hot off the rolling table, the core Romeo y Julieta 1875 brand by Altadis U.S.A. now has a Nicaraguan cousin and it’s made by the famous Plasencia Cigars in Nicaragua. This is not the first time that Altadis U.S.A. has turned to the Plasencia’s for a modern take on one of its classic brands. The Espada by Montecristo, the Montecristo Estoque, and the Romeo 505 Nicaragua are all made by Plasencia cigars.

Fittingly, Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua is a puro blend that boasts pristine construction and a seamless, evenly colored medium brown wrapper. As stated earlier, these beauties are not the first time an all-Nicaraguan cigar has worn the legendary Romeo y Julieta name, but this one has its own unique medley of flavors, sure to make it a top-choice among brand loyalists, and anyone else that loves a bold, well rounded cigar. Premium handmade Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua cigars distinguish themselves for the rest of the line with striking white and orange trimmed bands and is available in four vitolas that the original 1875 fans should be familiar with— The Bully (5 x 50), Toro (6 x 50), Magnum (6 x 60), and Churchill, all available in 25-count boxes.

As one would expect from these two industry giants, Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua cigars are slow burning, and always consistent in quality and taste from one smoke to the next.

Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua cigars bring together the classic look and feel of the original 1875, with the Nicaraguan character and style that Plasencia is famous for. It’s a full-bodied smoke within inherent smoothness, making it an ideal selection for cigar aficionados looking to move up a notch in strength.

One lit, the cigar aficionado will experience a delectable luxury smoke bursting at the seams with mouthwatering flavors of hazelnut, earth, sweet cocoa, plenty of spice, and the rich tobacco sweetness that the finest fully aged Nicaraguan tobaccos provide.

With Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua, the dynamic duo of Altadis U.S.A and Plasencia have created yet another top-shelf cigar that combines great taste, along with the amazing blending and rolling skills from two of the biggest names in the premium cigar industry. Best off, they are very reasonably priced! Order yours today, right here at JR Cigar.

The Fabulous Full-Bodied Romeo 505 Nicaragua Cigars

Tuesday, February 20th, 2018

When one thinks of the famous Romeo y Julieta cigar, Cuba and the Dominican Republic often comes to mind. However, now you can add another country into the equation, with the Romeo 505 Nicaragua.  This is not only the first Romeo blend made in Nicaragua, but it also contains 100% Nicaraguan tobaccos. Hardcore Romeo y Julieta fans may dispute this claim with the RyJ by Romeo y Julieta cigar which debuted in 2013. Yes, it also consisted of only Nicaraguan tobaccos, but it was produced in Honduras— so even though they tasted great and looked the part, those beauties don’t count!

The cigars are a joint venture between Altadis U.S.A. and the famous Plasencia cigar family, and, if you have a modicum of knowledge about premium handmade cigars, you know that nobody makes Nicaraguan cigars better than these two industry titans! Toss in the legendary Altadis Grupo de Maestros who blend and roll these gems, and you have a trifecta of talent rarely found in the release of a new brand.

Plasencia and Altadis are certainly not strangers to each other, because this is third time in recent years that they have collaborated on a Nicaraguan tobacco project. First was for the Montecristo Espada in 2014 followed up with the Espada by Montecristo Estoque.  Both of those Monte line extensions were highly rated by industry experts and the regular cigar smoking community alike.

Romeo 505 Nicaragua cigars come dressed to impress with a sleek and oily Habano seed wrapper expertly box-pressed over a Nicaraguan binder and aged fillers from Jalapa, Estelí and Condega— Three of the most fertile growing regions in the country. This richer, bolder Romeo is a splendid full-bodied indulgence brimming with cedar, savory leather, and hints of roasted peanuts and black pepper that represent the best characteristics that Nicaraguan tobaccos have to offer.

Brilliant orange and black boxes with matching full-length bands tells you that 505 isn’t your dads Romeo, but that was the plan, because Plasencia and Altadis U.S.A wanted to create a modern and edgy rendition that would appeal to contemporary smokers while still retaining the brands timeless Cuban heritage for the old-school crowd.

Available in five popular big-ring sizes, your ideal Romeo 505 Nicaragua cigar is just a mouse click away on the JR Website. Order yours today and enjoy a top-quality smoke deemed a fan favorite among the staff here at the World’s Largest Cigar Store.

The Beautifully Aged Epic Craft Cured from Montecristo

Wednesday, February 7th, 2018

Starting with just one singular line from the Dominican Republic many moons ago, Montecristo, an off-shoot the famous Cuban marque, has grown into a virtual army of unique blends with various strength profiles, shapes, wrapper colors, and sizes.  Now, teaming up with Plasencia, and the famous Grupo de Maestro’s from Altadis, the portfolio expands once more with the decadent Montecristo Epic Craft Cured line.

Montecristo Epic Craft Cured, available in three popular 52-ring sizes, is a Nicaraguan puro highlighted with a rare Rosado wrapper that displays a deep toffee color with a slightly reddish-brown hue and very tight veins. A nice oily patina adds to the cigars lustrous eye-candy appeal. The painstaking curing process used in the Montecristo Epic Craft Cured cigars allow these perfectly aged 10- year old tobaccos to harmoniously blend in a tapestry of flavors that exude luxury and sophistication. And, as one would expect from Montecristo and Plasencia, the construction is pristine, the draw is effortless, and the burn is slow and razor sharp.

The peppery flavor to start the Epic comes with quite a jolt but soon settles down as tamer notes of cocoa, spices, nuts, and dark toasty coffee join the blend. Halfway in, all these flavors take turns becoming the top note, resulting in a multi-layered extravaganza of medium to full bodied goodness. The final third and right down to the band, the Epic picks up a caramel-like sweetness that makes the stick very hard to put down without burning the thumb.

For someone who smokes a steady diet of bold Cuban-style cigars, the Montecristo Epic will be a great addition to their daily rotation, while a creamy textured smoothness on the palate makes it a top choice for new hobbyists looking to move up in strength.

Pairing is a pleasure with these top-notch smokes, as bourbon, craft beer, or just about any libation of choice adds to the cigars overall enjoyment. Non-alcoholic enthusiasts will gain just about as much satisfaction smoking the Epic after a big meal, decadent dessert, or a nice cup of fresh brewed coffee.

A wonderful addition to the famous Montecristo lineup, the  Epic Craft Cured is poised to become one of the crowning jewels of your premium handmade cigar collection.
