On a side note, a couple of you may be wondering… Read on

Is Tom announcing a great comeback of cigar reviews? Is he ending the site? He dropped off the face of the cigar blog earth, what’s going on? Where is Ed?!

Nope, no great comeback is planned. Will I attempt to do reviews? YES. The site isn’t going away. There is no strife or events that have taken me away from this place. Ed is still plugging away at St. Pete Cigar, and I visit twice a week. For now, nailing down free time to do proper video reviews eludes us. It’s still in the cards though.

I still smoke cigars daily. In real life, everything is status quo. In fake cigar clique world, I’m one hundred percent removed from it. It took some time, but, I MADE IT! I suggest you look into it too. Log off of twitter and facebook, and make memories that are yours. Buy a cigar, and enjoy it alone, or with a friend.

There will be some changes around here though. No more paid advertising. I will keep banners of businesses I like, at no charge. Yep, the site will operate in the red, financially speaking. My goal will be one review a week, maybe more, maybe less. Obviously I won’t turn down cigars sent to me for review.

Oh… to both of you who have sent me emails, I’ll be in contact soon.

Uh… Where is Tom?

Tuesday, September 11th, 2012

No, I haven’t resorted to speaking in third person…

I’ve had emails from some loyal visitors, and I’m sure a dozen of you are wondering… “Where are the reviews? What happened to Tom? I’ve had to resort to reading reviews by Scott Smyth!”

Well fear not. Real life has gotten in the way, at least for a week. In the mean time, I will tidy up some loose ends, smoke some good cigars, and return next week. I’ll see the twelve of you then!

Site Update–The Ed and Tom show

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

Many of you have been asking me lately… What’s up with reviews by Ed & Tom?! Read on…

Any new cigar review site who has asked me for advice has heard me say… Consistency is important. So now it is time for the Ed and Tom show to practice what I preach. With the success of Ed’s new shop, some complications were introduced in making video cigar reviews. I think we can now work around those issues.

EdandTom

Ed and I have a new review in the can, and we’ll be back on Stogie Review within the week. So stay tuned as we get back in to our old routine you’ve all come to expect.

It has been said by Jerry that the Stogie Review is your site – Yours, mine, everyone’s. It was that mindset that brought the Ed and Tom show into existence, as well as this site. This mindset remains true today. So keep an eye out over at Stogie Review. And yes, you will start seeing Ed and I over there more consistently. No more excuses!

The Birth Of a Cigar Shop Part 2

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

If you haven’t seen Part 1, check it out here. This short video is another walk through of Ed’s new shop. This time around, things are really starting to take shape, and progress has been made. We would all like to see it done NOW, but there is a lot more to opening a cigar shop and lounge then meets the eye.

So take a minute as we continue our journey of the birth of a cigar shop (In high-def!).

Part 3 can be watched here.

The Birth of a Cigar Shop

Friday, October 15th, 2010

Anyone who knows me has already heard about my pal Ed’s cigar shop. He is in a very small lot, and literally crams in tons of inventory. A quick tour of the current location can be found here. It was only a matter of time before he would have to expand. And that’s exactly what he is going to do. In addition to more retail floor space, Ed is taking it to the next level with what will be a huge smoking lounge.

While St. Pete Cigar currently has the biggest inventory in St. Petersburg, FL, this will solidify his position even more. This little 2 minute video is a walk though of Ed’s new, unfinished cigar shop. Stay tuned for more updates and see the progress take place right here.

Site Update – Where Are The Reviews?!

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

Just a quick update. I’m sure you’ve noticed a lack of reviews around here lately.

sick-dog

It appears that I’ve come down with something known as the common cold. This has me spraying decongestants up my nose, and spraying Chloraseptic in my mouth. While that makes life bearable, it leaves little for my palate. I tried smoking a familiar cigar, and while it was enjoyable, every puff reminded me of decongestant chemicals. It wouldn’t be fair to even consider reviewing a cigar until this shit blows over. So stay tuned, I’ll be back SOON.

Video Review Update

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

I’ve been getting quite a few emails lately with a common question… Where the F is Ed? Where is your monthly video cigar review???

Stpetepipecigars-AshtonVSG206-864

The answer is simple… I’ve been short on time these days. Setting up a video cigar review takes more planning and time then one would expect, not to mention editing. But enough excuses… Essentially Ed has been waiting on me.

Ed and I have slated some time in the very near future to review the Quesada Tributo. To switch things up a little, we will be joining a guy you may know. He runs a cigar review site that I really like. I featured it as a Site of the Month not too long ago. It should be a good time hanging out and seeing how the Tributo treats us. Stay tuned!

Reader Question: Where The Hell Is Ed?

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

!Set

The holidays have taken their toll on December episode of The Ed & Tom Show. We anticipated that this may happen, and did a “Quick Smoke” video earlier this month to at least get one review in December. Check it out here if you haven’t seen it yet.

Fear not… Ed will be back on The Stogie Review, and here, by early January 2010 for the usual full length review. I have no idea what we will be reviewing, but I’m sure Ed has something in mind. Until then, you’ll just have to read my mindless write-ups.

Speaking of Ed… He is phasing out the “Pipe” in St. Pete Pipe & Cigars. Hence his website is now www.stpetecigar.com.

TomsCigars Top Referrers For November 09

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Another month has passed, and it is time to look at the site stats. Overall I was impressed with yet another monthly record. Over 14,000 of you clicked on this blog in November, as opposed to 12,000 in October.

Once again, my top referring site was good ol Barry from A Cigar Smokers Journal. His site sent 60 people my way last month. If you haven’t been to his site, go check it out for some honest cigar reviews.

In second place is my old friend Ed from St. Pete Pipe & Cigars. You know him for his many contributions in the cigar reviewing community. Ed sent over 20 people to my site in November.

st-pete-pipe

Ed doesn’t run an online shop, but he has been known to ship cigars all over the country. If you are lucky like me, you just drive one mile and pay him a visit.

For the end of the year, I’ll post a yearly roundup of top referrers. In the mean time, stay tuned for my usual ramblings on various cigars. Naturally, Ed will stop by for a Quick Smoke with Ed & Tom, and we will try to squeeze in a full length review before the year end.
