Site Update–The Ed and Tom show

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

Many of you have been asking me lately… What’s up with reviews by Ed & Tom?! Read on…

Any new cigar review site who has asked me for advice has heard me say… Consistency is important. So now it is time for the Ed and Tom show to practice what I preach. With the success of Ed’s new shop, some complications were introduced in making video cigar reviews. I think we can now work around those issues.

EdandTom

Ed and I have a new review in the can, and we’ll be back on Stogie Review within the week. So stay tuned as we get back in to our old routine you’ve all come to expect.

It has been said by Jerry that the Stogie Review is your site – Yours, mine, everyone’s. It was that mindset that brought the Ed and Tom show into existence, as well as this site. This mindset remains true today. So keep an eye out over at Stogie Review. And yes, you will start seeing Ed and I over there more consistently. No more excuses!

My Father Le Bijou 1922

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Ed and I stopped by The Stogie Review once again for our monthly guest spot. As always, the review is posted here for archive purposes.

The My Father Le Bijou is blended by Don Pepin Garcia. I enjoy the Le Bijou more then the original My Father, which was blended by Don’s son, Jaime. While the flavors are simple and pretty straight forward, I think this is a great smoke.

With the additional capacity of the shop and addition of a lounge, there was a bit of activity taking place during the review. This sort of threw us off at times, which you will surely notice.

Since the straight forward flavor profile left us short for words at times, we sent a tweet out asking if anyone had anything to ask of Ed. Mike from MikesStogies.com chimed in, so Ed and I had some random banter about what we look for when buying cigars. Check out what we thought in this video cigar review.

Running time – 23 minutes.

The Birth of a Cigar Shop

Friday, October 15th, 2010

Anyone who knows me has already heard about my pal Ed’s cigar shop. He is in a very small lot, and literally crams in tons of inventory. A quick tour of the current location can be found here. It was only a matter of time before he would have to expand. And that’s exactly what he is going to do. In addition to more retail floor space, Ed is taking it to the next level with what will be a huge smoking lounge.

While St. Pete Cigar currently has the biggest inventory in St. Petersburg, FL, this will solidify his position even more. This little 2 minute video is a walk though of Ed’s new, unfinished cigar shop. Stay tuned for more updates and see the progress take place right here.

Quesada Tributo

Monday, September 6th, 2010

2010-09-04-14-45-17

After slacking and missing last month’s review, I finally took some time with Ed to review the Quesada Tribudo. Mike from MikesStogies.com joined us this time around and offered his thoughts on this cigar. It was great hanging out with him, and we’ll have to do this again. Mike not only runs a cool cigar review site, but he is a CRA ambassador in upstate NY and he educated us on what CRA is all about.

The Quesada Tributo is a nice medium to full bodied cigar that offers full flavors as well. Like many of the cigars we review, you need to pay attention or you could miss out on subtle flavors. This video runs a little long at 29 minutes as Mike, Ed and I critique the Quesada Tributo.

Quick Smoke With Ed & Tom-Victor Sinclair Bohemian Maduro

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

The next installment of “A Quick Smoke With Ed & Tom” is here. This video runs around 15 minutes.

With the risk of sounding like a commercial, I can’t forget to thank our sponsors. Sure, without them this site would have reviews. But their support helps cover costs of hosting, equipment, and of course – cigars. Another plus is no compromises are made. The site exists on my terms, period.

As we mentioned in the video, don’t forget to enter the CheapHumidors.com contest and stay tuned for the next contest sponsored by Duque Cigars. We also touched on the topic of Heartfelt Industries, who decided to stick around for awhile and support the site. Lets not forget  The TS Cigar Company. They’ve been around for about 9 months. The only longer lasting supporter is Ed from St. Pete Pipe & Cigars.

Check out what we think of the Victor Sinclair Bohemian Maduro.

Perdomo 10th Anniversary Criollo

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Ed and I are back for our monthly visit to The Stogie Review. In this episode we critique the Perdomo 10th Anniversary Criollo. I reviewed this cigar by myself a while ago and had a slightly different experience. But overall, both times were enjoyable.

In this episode we give a shout out to The Cigar Nut, and mention a contest starting July 23rd here at TomsCigars.com. Stay tuned!

This video runs a little long at 29 minutes, so set some time aside and see what we have to say about the Perdomo 10th Anniversary Criollo.

Quick Smoke With Ed & Tom-CAO Brazilia Cariocas

Once again, Ed and I are back for another “Quick Smoke with Ed & Tom.” This video runs about 13 minutes. We grabbed a CAO Brazilia Cariocas Tin and put together this quick, to the point review.

Alec Bradley SCR

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

The Alec Bradley Cigar Company was nice enough to give Ed and I a sneak peek at their latest cigar, the SCR, or Select Cabinet Reserve. This review is featured at our other home, The Stogie Review, as well as St. Pete Pipe and Cigars. Make sure you pay them a visit! In the mean time, see what Ed and I thought of the SCR.

Sorry about the audio hum in the first section. Sounds like we had a small ground loop going for a little while, or I had the microphones too hot. Luckily it wasnt too bad.

A Quick Smoke With Ed and Tom – La Aroma De Cuba

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

This is a new segment called “A Quick Smoke with Ed and Tom.” This video runs about 15 minutes. The name explains it all. The idea is to review smaller ring gage and length cigars in a quick, to the point format. Ed and I figured a little extra content couldn’t hurt, so we did a quick review of the La Aroma De Cuba.

I am not sure how often we’ll do these, but we are shooting for one quick smoke in addition to a full length review each month. These segments will be featured here, and on St. Pete Pipe & Cigars. Let us know what you think. Is it a good or bad idea? Should the reviews be shorter or longer? All feedback is welcome, good or bad.
