Debonaire House – A Delicious Line of Luxury Cigars

Tuesday, April 17th, 2018

Debonaire House Cigars are the culmination of 20 years of research and development by Philip S. Zanghi III, founder of Indian Tabac Cigar Company, and Daniel Sinclair founder of Dufort Holdings. Their intention was to create the perfect premium handmade cigars by using the finest aged binder and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic covered in your choice of Connecticut, Habano, and Maduro wrapper varieties. The company employs an expert team of blenders and rollers with a combined experience of over 150 years who leave nothing to chance. Debonaire House cigars distinguish themselves from other brands on the market by using a special accordion fold, as opposed to the entubado style of bunching, so you can always expect an incredibly slow burn and a cool, effortless draw.

The Debonaire Habano cigars are covered in a dark, oily, reddish brown Ecuador Habano wrapper. Medium bodied, yet full in flavor, Debonaire Habano displays a prominent Cuban-style profile with a rich tobacco sweetness, accented with spice, cocoa, and hints of charred wood. These meaty cigars are solidly packed, and slow burning.

Debonaire Maduro cigars are the fullest blend in the lineup, as well as being the only Maduro wrapped offering. These full-bodied beauties feature a classic Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper that imparts a rich chocolaty sweetness and some dried fruit components to the flavor profile. The binder and fillers feature Debonaire’s signature blend of aged Nicaraguan and Dominican binder and fillers that impart layers of cocoa, white pepper, and earth to the mix. When harmonious joined together, these complex flavors combine for a smoke best described as a maduro lover’s dream!

In 2017, Debonaire House introduced the Daybreak brand to their lineup to appeal to the legions of cigar aficionados that are always  looking for a smooth tasting Connecticut style smoke.  A silky, golden brown Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper tones down the strength a notch while imparting a creamy sweetness to the blend. Smokers will enjoy an easygoing medium body smoke that displays layers of sweet and peppery spices, rounded out with nuances of cocoa, cedar, and graham cracker.

Every Debonaire House brand offering is available in a wide array of popular sizes that include a classic-Cuban style Belicoso and Perfecto for fans of old -school figurado shapes.

By offering exceptional quality and luxury taste throughout their portfolio, Debonaire House has established themselves as on one the hottest selling small batch, boutique style cigars on the market today.

Re-Discover the Bolivar Cofradia – A Classic Honduran Brand

Tuesday, April 10th, 2018

There’s never been a better time to be a premium cigar connoisseur, in 2018, the industry is vibrant, and healthier than even though there are more restrictions on peoples’ right to enjoy a cigar than ever before. Today, there is a multitude of contemporary cigar-makers willing to experiment with wrappers and filler tobaccos from all regions of the world, and by creating these blends defying conventional manufacturing norms, you have a choice of a wide variety of exciting new flavor profiles that are unlike anything you have experienced before!  Just walking through the aisles of your favorite cigar store, can be a daunting, yet exciting experience. Sadly, due to this veritable stogie tsunami, many of the old tried and true classics are now over-looked — one of them being the good old Bolivar Cofradia brand.

Still a favorite with many of the veteran cigar aficionados here at JR Cigar, the Cofradia was an enormously popular smoke when it was first produced in the late 1990’s. First manufactured at the Villazon Factory in Honduras under the watchful eye of master cigar maker Estelo Padron, the brand is now part of the famous General Cigar portfolio, with Padron still playing a big part in production.

Bolivar Cofradia remains a four-line vitola selection that features your choice of either an oily, Oscuro Connecticut Broadleaf, or a medium-brown EMS Ecuador wrapper over a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and aged long-fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua.

Although, not as complex as many of the more innovative sticks saturating the market today, the Bolivar Cofradia is a bold, heady cigar, with the straightforward full-bodied flavors of earth, peppery spice, chocolate, and coffee, that old- school purists have come to expect from a handmade premium cigar. When choosing the top- quality Ecuadorian wrapped variety expect more pronounced flavors of spice and roasted nuts, with no chocolate components in the mix.

Still packaged in the same slide-top aromatic cedar chests of 24, and aged for at least one-full year, the Bolivar Cofradia brand also has the same affordable price that die-hard fans really appreciate.

We highly recommend that you take this timeless cigar line for a test-drive, we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the fabulous construction and rich Cuban-style taste!

JRCigars.com interviews Cory Bappert, Vice President of Sales for Oliva Cigars

Friday, March 23rd, 2018

Oliva brand is one of the most popular brands in the world.  Get a first look as JRCigars.com sits down with the Vice President of Sales of Oliva Cigars, Cory Bappert, to talk about their new Nicaraguan Cigar factory, the process of making their cigars, and much more.

JRCigars.com – Tell us about your new box factory and the expanded capabilities of your Nicaraguan cigar factory.   How many cigars/boxes can you produce per day?

Cory Bappert – Our new box factory when fully operational and up to speed will be capable of producing 100K boxes a month. We currently make over 20 million cigars a year and with expansion under way will have the capability to product up to make an extra 40% more per year.

JRCigars.com – How large is your staff at the Nicaragua factory in Esteli?

Cory Bappert – Just at factory level we have 1500-1600 workers between both cigar factories as well as the box factory.

JRCigars.com – Do you have Rollers & Bunchers that work in pairs or does one person bunch and roll the cigar from start to finish?  What is the reasoning behind this method?

Cory Bappert – We use a roller and buncher. That work as a pair. We find the quality is better when one person focuses on one task instead of two.

JRCigars.com – What was the inspiration behind the Gilberto Oliva Reserva line that you released at the 2017 IPCPR?

Cory Bappert – The Gilberto line is a brand that we felt would reach the more value driven cigar smokers that we couldn’t previously reach.

JRCigars.com – Do you find it flattering or frustrating that since the successful release of your various Nub lines the cigar market has seen a large influx of vitolas in the 4 x 60 range?

Cory Bappert – Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but the size of Nub is only part of what makes it a successful brand.

JRCigars.com – Since being acquired by J. Cortes Cigars, a Belgian company know for European-style cigarillos, will you be introducing more of the European style cigars into your portfolio?

Cory Bappert – We took over US distribution of Neos cigarillos, but that is all we have planned at this time.

JRCigars.com – What makes the Oliva Serie V and Oliva Serie V Melanio so special and sought after?

Cory Bappert – We use tobaccos from special farms we do not use on any other cigars. Also, we have a commitment to the quality of its construction. We use salaried rollers so as not to have the roller and buncher focus on quantity. Our V rollers generally roll half as many a day as a normal cigar roller. Therefore, you’ll find the construction almost perfect.

JRCigars.com – What do you feel distinguishes Oliva Cigars from other cigar manufacturers?

Cory Bappert – Our ability to grow to meet the needs and expectation of the consumer without sacrificing quality. It is a hand made product and rushing cigars out to market is tempting to all growing cigar companies. Holding the line to maintain the quality of the cigars instead of trying to cash in indicates a commitment to the long-term quality of the brand.

JR Special Corona- The Rebirth of a Classic JR Cigar.

Thursday, May 18th, 2017

For more than three decades, the JR Special Corona cigars were some of the best-selling smokes in our exclusive in-house lineup. When they finally disappeared due to manufacturing issues, some of the hardcore brand loyalists were very upset— to say the least! We are happy to report that we have resurrected this legendary brand and they are just as delicious and affordably priced as ever.

The brand new JR Special Corona, once again made exclusively for us, is handmade in Nicaragua in your choice of three top-quality wrapper styles that include a golden brown Ecuador Connecticut, a robust, clay-red colored Habano Rosado, and a deep dark and delicious Connecticut Broadleaf maduro. Nestled underneath these three fine wrapper varieties are perfectly aged Indonesian and Nicaraguan long filler tobaccos. All three blends are medium in strength, 6 x 50- Toro sized, and packed in value-price bundles of 15.  Now, let’s take a closer look at what this affordable brand has to offer.

When choosing the JR Special Corona Toro Connecticut Ecuador, you will enjoy an easygoing smoke with a warm and toasty aroma and lush complex notes of sweet spice, leather, nuts, and coffee. This one will become your ideal morning and mid-day cigar-smoking companion.

The Toro Habano Rosado Ecuador cigar really stands out with its stunning reddish-brown Cuban-seed wrapper. Slightly more robust than its Connecticut wrapped cousin, the cigar remains medium bodied with delicious flavors of earth, leather, spice, and dark roast coffee. Smooth enough for that first morning smoke, yet boasting enough complexity and balance for the evening, this Special Corona is a very accommodating cigar.

With the JR Special Corona Toro Maduro, dark leaf enthusiasts will savor delicious medium body notes of chocolate, coffee bean, earth, and caramel. This wonderful slow-burning smoke is one that can be enjoyed all day. This gem also pairs perfectly with espresso, port wine, and a nice craft brew.

Boasting outstanding construction and tons of complexity, our lineup of JR Special Corona blends prove that a premium cigar doesn’t have to be
